Emu Gully Trip

From the 29th of September to the 1st of October, 18 members of the Sunshine Beach Youth and 2 Supervisors (Peter Quinn and Alison Bowness) went to the Emu Gully Camp near Helidon. The group became involved in various activities relating to ANZAC traditions and stories.

One of the most enjoyable and muddy activities being the Kokoda track, the objective being to carry our patient on a stretcher through pits of thick, deep mud without getting the patient dirty! The activities were designed to challenge people and make all of us step up and fulfil our potential, which we all did by putting in the effort. The whole group enjoyed themselves with all of the activities being remembered for something in particular. The boys appeared to enjoy the talk on the planes and tanks significantly more than the girls, but that was to be expected.

No matter if it was the excellent food, our brilliant camp instructor Al, or the exciting team building activities. Everyone left with memories to treasure and important life skills to remember. The camp proved to be the first opportunity for the new members to bond with the older more experienced youth participants forging firmer bonds and making new friends.
